Gum Disease
A DISEASE THAT SHOULD BE TREATED AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE
Gum disease (also called periodontal disease) affects many people, especially as they age. When gum disease occurs, the gum and the bone it surrounds become infected with bacteria. Gum disease may be symptom-less for years before it begins to cause problems. Once bacteria begin to multiply, deterioration is swift. Because it will lead to the gradual destruction of the gums and supporting bone if left untreated, it’s important to address gum disease as early as possible.
Your Gum Disease Treatment
Gum disease requires different treatments depending on its severity. The periodontist will conduct a thorough examination, review your medical and dental history, and consult with you to create a customized treatment plan.
With all procedures, patients can receive local anesthesia and may request conscious sedation to ensure their comfort.
